Hey, everyone! Cari here. I've got another chapter of my KotLC fanfic! Again, this is fourteen-year-old me's writing, so please forgive the briefness (and sorta cringy dialogue). I do have another KotLC fanfic in the works, but there are major spoilers for Stellarlune. Like before, the characters Erm, Bella, Nora, Elyna, and Catiana were created by the four real-life fangirls who inspired me to write this story. Also, The Most Epic Trip Ever is currently available to read on Wattpad and Archive of Our Own. Anyway, enjoy Chapter 2: Are the Lost Cities Even Real?

As soon as Mom dropped me off, I located the valuable screenshot and texted it to my friends Erm Faherty, Bella Riker, and Nora and Elyna Erickson-Raftery. I also emailed it to Catiana Blanc. Then I reported to Aunt Wren.
“Hello, Becca,” she greeted me.
“Hi Aunt Wren.”
“Are you ready to begin your shift?”
“Um, yeah.”
“Then you know the drill. Phone please.”
I willingly handed it over. No use arguing. I’d just have to witness my friends’ reactions later. But all the while I couldn’t stop thinking about what would happen if what I’d seen was real.
What would the characters’ reactions be? I wondered.
I quickly shoved that thought out of my mind for now. No use thinking about that now. Sighing, I trailed behind my aunt over to the front desk.
“You know what you need to do, Becca, right?” she asked.
“Yeah, help out at front desk.”
Not that I was thrilled about that. I didn’t enjoy front desk because everyone was like, “Why are you working?! You’re twelve!!” Actually, I was fourteen—more specifically, fourteen-and-a-half. In about a year and six months, I’d be able to work full-time. Why couldn’t I be allowed to help out at my aunt’s shop no matter my age?
Taking my place, I waited for the first customers to arrive.

As soon as my shift ended, I grabbed my phone. Sure enough, there were a thousand notifications. Smiling, I tapped on my texts, then email. My friends were freaking out.
“WAIT WHAT?!” Erm had texted. “PLEASE LET THIS BE REAL!!!!”
Bella had simply filled her response with a bunch of emojis that I took to mean “mind-blown”.
“NO WAY!!!” Nora had written. “THIS HAS GOT TO BE IMPOSSIBLE!!!!!!”
Elyna had expressed her amazement and then proceeded to explain how the Council probably would’ve made sure that the Lost Cities were not discoverable on Google Maps.
I laughed at this. The Council probably didn’t even know Google Maps existed.
“OH MY MALLOWEMELT THIS IS CRAZY!!!!!!!!” was Catiana’s response.
I quickly replied to each of the girls. Right after I hit send on the last text, Mom arrived. As I walked out to the car, my mind pondered over the question, Are the Lost Cities even real?
