The Nerd

Hey, it's Cari! Today, I have the honor of presenting another stereotypes post. Without further ado, I give to you...

The Nerd by Sarafini!

  1. You absolutely have to be the smartest character! But you have to have an area of specialty where you know everything in a topic you're passionate about if you're the MC, it absolutely cannot be something you need to know in order to stop the villain. If you're just a minor character, it doesn't matter.

  2. If you're the protagonist there's always something you don't know about strangely enough that the villain does know. Which means you have to have a friend who knows about it cause how else are you going to stop the villain. If you're the side character, you have to know everything so that the protagonist doesn’t fail.

  3. You have to wear glasses. Spectacles or big plastic ones that are too big for your face would be preferable. You need to look very unattractive with acne, tons of quirks and bonus if you always wear vests along with those baggy pants.

  4. You have to get picked on throughout the book or series but it doesn't seem to bother you. You just embrace your geekiness.

  5. You only have 1 or 2 friends throughout the book or series. 1 will definitely be your love interest, and bonus if it's the boy or girl version of you, if you're the protagonist and the other will most likely be geeky like you.

Sarafini is a young adult homeschool graduate. She's been writing short stories since mid-2018 and fanfiction (mostly Adventures in Odyssey) since late 2019. She got into novel writing during the 2020 shutdown and has been going non-stop since. She writes every genre except Romance and Horror and hopes to publish her Sci-fi/dystopian series on Amazon someday. In her spare time, she likes to read, take care of her siblings with special needs, play outside with her family, talk with friends, and volunteer at her church, homeschool community, and at Summer camp. You can find her at Kingdom Pen and Story Embers using the nickname Sarafini and at Ydubs.

*chuckles nervously* Well, if that's inaccurate, I don't know what it is! I avoid writing nerdy characters, but I'm sure they exist in popular media.

Who's your favorite nerd character? Let me know in the comments!

I totally forgot I wrote this.

Also, Cari or Erin, do you guys happen to have the link to the Christian testimony blog that some Ydubbers started? I know Andrew Illsey posted on there and I wanted to re-read the post but I’m not on Ydubs rn and can’t seem to find the site they used.
