Rules for Writing the Teenager

Just so you know, I am not a normal teenager. I pride myself on being “unconformed“ to this world, so to speak.

But this is spot on for the stereotypical teenager! My, my what low expectations.

Rules for Writing the Teenager by Skylar Rivers

How to be a teenager and blend into the crowd

  1. Be tech-savvy. Don’t know what a cell phone is? Sorry compadre, you won’t cut it as a teenager. Wear headphones and listen to music (rock and pop is best.) 2. Be a rebel. Early bedtime? Stay up late reading. 3. Dye your hair! Whether neon green or a soothing turquoise, dyed hair is one of the signs of a rebel. 4. The latest fashion trends: shorts, sweatshirts, ripped jeans and layers! Sorry, no disco. 5. Keep up with the lingo! No caps, this is crucial. It’s like learning another language. How are you supposed to befriend anybody if you don’t know what they’re saying? This applies to texting language as well. BONUS! You MUST be 13-19 yrs old. any younger and you’re a kid. Any older and you’re an adult. There you have it! 5 tips to becoming a teenager.

Skylar Rivers has been reading ever since she was two and began writing stories when she was six. While she does enjoy the time spent hanging out with friends, she is quite introverted, as well as being an organized daily task vanquisher. She loves both reading and writing fantasy, although she has yet to write a novel. Her favorite fantasy books are Keeper of the Lost Cities by Shannon Messenger and Where the Mountain Meets the Moon by Grace Lin, while her favorite shows are Mako Mermaids, Ninjago, and Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir. She hopes to one day get published.

Okay, I will share. If I have an early bedtime *side glance*, I stay up late reading. Way too late, sometimes. And I do dye my hair… What? I still say I am not a normal teenager. *crosses arms and pouts* *laughs at your astonishment*

Which of these rules do you actually follow? Comment below!
