Rules for Writing Homeschoolers

Hello! Today I have rules that I, Erin Hylands, have written regarding homeschooling!

Like you couldn’t guess from reading the title. *smirks*

So, I present to you…

Rules for Writing Homeschoolers by Erin Hylands

***

5 rules of the Homeschooler

  1. You must be weird! You talk to everyone and kids your age look at you weirdly when you do that.

  2. You are a Bible-thumping Christian or fanatic. You flout that around others and make them uncomfortable.

  3. You are strictly sheltered. Your parents don’t want anything bad to happen to you, so they tell you literally nothing and keep you from playing or hanging out with anyone.

  4. You are the know it all. You get everything right and are not afraid to share that. But it makes some uncomfortable because they feel dumb and others excited because they use you to cheat because you don’t know any better.

  5. You are on the honor roll because you are top of your class. That’s because your mom is your teacher and doesn’t want to fail you in anything, but the truth is you’re top of your class because you’re the only one in your class.

  6. BONUS!!! You are that strange kid in that huge family of too many kids. You have a giant van that people call the school bus, but you don’t go on any field trips anywhere except Legoland, church, and grocery shopping. Okay, this one isn’t stereotypical, it’s my family.

  7. BONUS #2! Don’t forget the long jean skirt and pastel shirts with long socks and sandals XD never would I wear that combo, but all my public school friends would think that's what my wardrobe consisted of lol

I hope you enjoy! Keep in mind I am a homeschool graduate, and I love homeschooling!

Okay, this is just what the stereotype homeschooler is—but when I shared on that online writing community I told you about, turns out more homeschoolers relate to these than I thought! Including me!

I’m homeschooled, and often public schooled kids think I’m dumb and that I don’t have a real teacher (which is definitely not true, my mom is an amazing teacher). That’s my least favorite aspect of homeschooling. My favorite is that we make our own schedule and get to go on vacation right after almost every other kid goes back to school after summer. 😁
