Hello, friends! It is I, Erin! Today, I am interviewing poet Molly McTernan, who, it turns out, is my coleader of the poetry CG I help lead on the Young Writer’s Workshop!
***
Q: When did you begin writing and why?
A: While it is true that I’ve been writing for quite some time now, I started seriously doing so about three years ago. I think that reason for why I wanted to stemmed from my (and my family’s) love of books!
Q: Loving books, in my opinion, grows into loving writing! You published a poetry collection. Do you write only poetry? If no, what other genres do you like writing?
A: Yes, the main genres that I currently write are poetry, Christian non-fiction and allegorical fiction (I’ve dabbled in fantasy and dystopian in the past). However, poetry is certainly my favorite!
Q: I love poetry, too! And your poems (especially ‘I am Sorry’ in Poetic Surrender:) are beautiful! Are there any authors you admire and look up to?
A: There are many, though some would be Andrew Peterson, J. R. R. Tolkien, Emily Dickinson, and C. S. Lewis.
Q: Emily Dickinson’s poems are beautiful yet confusing to me! But it might be fun to try her style one day. *files that thought away for later* Where can we find you online?
A: The first place that I would direct you to is my blog! I post a couple times a month on the topics of poetry, writing, reading, and faith - I’d love to have you join my newsletter! Aside from that, I also have a YouTube channel and my work has been published on multiple websites such as The Rebelution and Kingdom Pen.
Q: I’ll link those at the end of this interview! What is one piece of advice you have for young writers?
A: Pray about your writing! Words hold so much power, and going to Him for guidance as we wield that power is such an important thing to do.
