I have an interview for you today with indie published author, Faith Blum! I am on Ms. Blum’s email list, and I am looking forward to her next book!

Q: When did you begin writing and why?
A: I started writing in school. I was homeschooled and remember one of my first writing assignments was to write about our family camping trip. That made me fall in love with writing and I just kept on going. Now I write to encourage Christians in their faith.
Q: That’s amazing! That sounds similar to why I started writing. Who has been your biggest inspiration?
A: This is a hard question. A lot of my books are inspired by authors like Louis L’Amour, Janette Oke, and Laura Ingalls Wilder. As for me myself, I’d have to say my friend Stephanie. Her joy in her difficult circumstances and her heart for adoption have always inspired me.
Q: I could see Janette Oke being an inspiration! Her books are amazing, especially Dana’s Valley. But why did you choose indie publishing? Do you ever plan on going traditional?
A: I chose Indie vs Traditional for a few reasons, one being control. I can control what I put into my books and what not to put in them. Another reason was that it is also faster. I am currently working on getting an agent to go traditional alongside my indie publishing.
Q: That makes sense. You can control everything about your books and not have to worry about changing things you don’t want to change. How many books have you written, and what are your favorites?
A: I have written and published 36 books now. My favorites are The Solid Rock, Blessed Assurance, and Jesus, I am Resting. The latter is in the Springtime in Surrey anthology.
Q: 36 books? Wow! Maybe one day I’ll have written and published that many. But for now, I’ll keep working on my fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth books (all of but one of which is an anthology that I’m editing). What is your next book, and when is it coming out?
A: My next book is Be Still, My Soul and it comes out in mid-November.
Q: That’s not too long to wait. And I love that title! Do you have a piece of advice for young writers?
A: Keep learning and keep writing. Learn consistency in your writing as well. The more you write, the better you will get.
