Hi! It’s Erin with you today. I hope you all are enjoying this new series we are doing, the book reviews series! I’ve enjoyed getting to dive deeper into literature, and I hope you are too!
Today, I am sharing a book I read recently called Before the World Changed, written by Anna Grace. When I got it, my eight-year-old sister begged to let me read it!
I also figured today would be a good day for it, considering the date.
So, without further ado, here are my thoughts on it.

9/11. The day our world changed. That day, nearly twenty-two years ago, terrorists hijacked planes and flew into major monuments, killing thousands of people and striking fear into the heart of America. If America could be attacked like that, what was to become of us? Anna Grace, author of Before the World Changed and Across All Borders, discovered that this terrible attack was little written about. In her novelette, she writes in a simplistic way to get the story across to all readers.
The story opens with Alli, who is excited to get to see her sister, Ashlee. She flies in from Pennsylvania to Washington, D.C. on September 10. But their vacation is cut short on September 11 when Ashlee turns on the TV, and they witness the attack on World Trade Center.
Her husband, Dean, is a police officer, and he leaves immediately to go to the scene of the attack. Ashlee is terrified that she will lose her husband, and Alli is scared for her family when she finds out a plane was crashed into a Pennsylvanian field.
She finally gets a hold of her mom and finds out the plane crashed fairly close to their home, but they weren’t hurt. But Ashlee has no word from Dean, so she tries to hide her fear in making hot chocolate. On their way to the store (as she has no cocoa powder), they see a Muslim family. At that moment, God calls them to do something. Will they be strong and obey the Lord’s call?
Before the World Changed is a heartfelt narrative of the terrifying events of September 11. With simple words and details, Grace weaves a story that can be read and understood by all ages. The world changed on September 11, 2001, and it is imperative to understand that.
